Jan. 01, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Mountwest Community and Technical College has incorporated a college resource officer at its campus. The agreement, made with the Cabell County Sheriff's Department, provides a deputy sheriff for on-site law enforcement at the college.

Sgt. R.H. "Bob" McQuaid was selected for the position. McQuaid has more than 26 years of law enforcement experience in West Virginia and has worked for the Cabell County Sheriff's Department since 1996. During his tenure with the sheriff's department, McQuaid has worked for the road patrol, K-9 unit, special operations unit, detective bureau and judicial division. He was also assigned to the C.U.F.F.E.D. Fugitive Task Force, working under the direction of the U.S. Marshals Service.

As college resource officer, McQuaid will be responsible for providing law enforcement on properties controlled by Mountwest, offering career-related information to students, advising the proper methods of interacting with the judicial system and maintaining high visibility on campus grounds.
