Fire linked to domestic dispute

January 05, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- No one was injured in a Friday night fire which is being investigated as arson with a possible connection to a domestic dispute at the home.

Huntington Police officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute just before 9 p.m. at a residence in the 1200 block of 28th Street, said Sgt. Kendra Beckett.

When the officers arrived on the scene, the woman who called authorities was standing outside of the residence, and when they approached her, they discovered smoke coming from the home, Beckett said.

They alerted responders with the Huntington Fire Department, who arrived on the scene a short time later. According to dispatcher reports, the fire was fully involved when the firefighters arrived on the scene.

The woman and the man who were at the residence at the time were questioned by police on the scene, and Beckett said the man likely would be charged in connection with the domestic dispute.

A more thorough investigation by officers and the state fire marshal's office will determine who, if anyone, is charged with arson in connection to the fire, Beckett said.
