Blotter: Business cashed $9,100 in counterfeit checks three hours apart

The following information was provided by reports filed with the Huntington Police Department:

FALSE PRETENSES: An employee at Hart's Corner in the 500 block of 4th Avenue reported Monday that two counterfeit checks were cashed at the business on Dec. 22. Two checks, worth $4,600 and $4,500 respectively, were cashed about three hours apart by two people, and a representative with the business' bank informed employees the checks were counterfeit.

The incident remains under investigation.

The following information was provided by reports filed with the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:

LARCENY: An administrator at Cabell Midland High School reported Tuesday that a laptop worth $1,000 was missing from the school's math department. After contacting all of the teachers in the school, it was determined the laptop was last used on Jan. 7, and all of the accessories for the laptop were still in the laptop case.

The following information was provided by booking records at the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Michael Clay Boardman, 30, was incarcerated at 2:15 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony imitation delivery of a controlled substance to a minor, felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor and felony sexual assault, third degree. Bond was $25,000.

Lewis Bension Day, 27, was incarcerated at 1:40 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony robbery and felony conspiracy. Bond was $200,000.

Stephanie B. Horn, 21, was incarcerated at 1:40 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged her with felony robbery and felony conspiracy. Bond was $200,000.

Bobbie Jo Kirk, 30, was incarcerated at 12:35 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Wayne County charged her as a fugitive from justice. Bond was denied.

Kathy Lynn Lemmons, 42, was incarcerated at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Lincoln County charged her with felony capias. Bond was set at $5,000.

Alfred Curtis Watts, 46, was incarcerated at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony conspiracy, felony daytime burglary and misdemeanor destruction of property. Bond was $10,000.

Steven Michael Rhodes, 23, was incarcerated Wednesday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony grand larceny and breaking and entering. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Jessica Howerton, 25, was incarcerated Wednesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with felony child neglect and misdemeanor trespassing. She was released on a $5,000 bond.

Joshua Dale Ferguson, 24, was incarcerated Wednesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony child neglect and misdemeanor trespassing. He was released on a $6,000 bond.
