New sewer billing to begin this week
HUNTINGTON -- Customers of the Huntington Sanitary Board will see new bills mailed to their residences beginning this week.
The sewer charges used to be added to customers' water bills. However, West Virginia American Water has decided to end third-party billing services for sewer utilities. The change affects 20 utilities in West Virginia.
The Sanitary Board has opted to handle billing on its own rather than enter into an agreement with another third-party agency.
The board will send bills to its 22,000 customers over a month-long period instead of at once. The first batch will be mailed this week. West Virginia American Water also sent notices of the billing change to its customers in December.
Payment options include mailing bills to P.O. Box 7178 Charleston, WV 25336 or dropping them off at City National Bank locations on 3rd and 5th avenues in Huntington and in Pea Ridge. For more information, call the Sanitary Board at 304-696-5564 or visit www.huntingtonsb.com.
