Blotter: 2 report car parts stolen at park and ride
The following information was provided by reports filed with the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: Two people reported on Friday that someone removed the catalytic converters from their vehicles while they were parked at the 5th Street Hill exit park and ride in the 1700 block of 5th Street Road.
A 42-year-old man reported $500 in damage was done to his vehicle, and a 26-year-old man reported $300 in damage was done to his vehicle.
FALSE PRETENSES: A 70-year-old man reported he was scammed into sending $3,600 in cash to a person in New York. The man said he received a phone call from a person who he thought was his grandson asking for money to pay for damages for a wreck in which he was involved. The incident remains under investigation.
BURGLARY: An employee at Joil's in the 3400 block of U.S. 60 reported someone took a safe containing $2,326.16 in cash sometime Sunday morning. The employee said the alarm system for the business had been turned off.
In the report, a deputy states he and another deputy responded to the business prior to this incident for a report of an open door at the business, but no one was in the building at that time.
The following information was provided by reports filed with the Huntington Police Department:
IDENTITY THEFT: A 36-year-old Huntington man reported he contacted his natural gas company on Monday to have gas turned off at a residence he owns. When he provided his Social Security number to the gas company employee, he was informed he had an outstanding balance of $600 at an address at which he never lived. The man said the account was opened in 2005.
LARCENY: A 31-year-old man reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 1500 block of Madison Avenue Monday and took $800 in miscellaneous items.
BREAKING AND ENTERING (AUTO): A 21-year-old woman reported someone forced entry into her vehicle while it was parked in the 1100 block of 16th Street Monday and took $600 in books and $100 in CDs.
The following information was provided by booking records at the Western Regional Jail:
Frank William Basenback, 25, was incarcerated at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with a felony bench warrant. Bond was denied.
Arthur Lee Browning, 41, was incarcerated at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with felony sexual abuse, third degree, and two counts of felony sexual abuse, first degree. Bond was $25,000.
Steve Dewayne Wright, 33, was incarcerated at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony grand larceny, felony failure to appear, misdemeanor destruction of property and misdemeanor obtaining information using false pretenses. Bond was denied.
