Man arrested in '12 armed robbery
HUNTINGTON -- The U.S. Marshals Service C.U.F.F.E.D. Task Force has arrested a convicted felon who recently was charged with holding up a local convenience store.
David Dean Buzzard was arrested without incident at 8:20 a.m. Thursday at a residence in the 100 block of Davis Street in Huntington, said Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas.
Task force members detained Buzzard on an active warrant for first-degree robbery. A conviction could carry 10 years to life in prison.
The warrant stems from a Christmas Eve 2012 robbery at the Marathon gasoline station in the 500 block of 8th Street. Evidence indicates a man walked into the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money.
The holdup happened at a time when Buzzard was on supervised probation after being released from federal prison in February 2012. That stemmed from a guilty plea in an auto theft case.
Task force members also arrested Buzzard's girlfriend, Heather Jo Ratcliff, at the same residence. The 29-year-old woman was charged with being a fugitive from justice in connection with a drug trafficking warrant in Ohio, McComas said.
The task force includes federal marshals, along with sheriff's deputies from Cabell, Wayne and Lincoln counties.
