Marshall's Student Juried Exhibition opens at Birke
HUNTINGTON -- For Marshall University graduate student Nikos Karabestos, making art and participating in the community that comes along with it is a way of life.
Winning awards for that art, like the Juror's Award he received at the opening of the 27th Annual Student Juried Exhibition on campus Monday night, is icing on the cake.
"There's always a lot of talent on display here between the faculty, staff and throughout Huntington," Karabestos said. "When you are in such a place where you can find so much help and inspiration, it's going to be easy to find a high quality of art here, and it's an unbelievable pleasure to get to see it, let alone receive an award for it."
The exhibition is on display through Friday, Feb. 15, at Birke Art Gallery on campus, and it features the work of undergraduate and graduate students at Marshall's College of Fine Arts.
The Birke Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and also from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays.
