Putnam Parks to sponsor tea party on April 27

HURRICANE -- The Putnam County Parks & Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring a Princess Tea Party at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Valley Park in Hurricane.

The part is open to children ages 1 to 12 years old.

There will be refreshments and children can have their photo taken with Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, Tiana, the Frog Prince, Tinkerbell and the Fairy Godmother. There will also be carriage rides.

The event is free.

Church renews weekly broadcast

HUNTINGTON -- One local church will return to the airwaves with the renewal of its weekly broadcast.

Lewis Memorial Baptist Church will broadcast its television program "The Daily Walk" from 11 a.m. to noon each Sunday beginning March 3 on the Tri-State's CW network WQCW.

The show previously was broadcast on WCHS for eight years.

The program will restart by featuring David Lemming's series "On Fire: Life in the Spirit."

Lewis Memorial Baptist Church is located at 5385 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington.

MCTC to offer deckhand course

HUNTINGTON -- Mountwest Community and Technical College will offer a Deckhand Basic Training Course Feb. 18-24. The course, presented through Mountwest's Inland Waterways Academy, can equip students with the skills and certification needed to join a fast-growing industry on the river.

River Valley Child Development to receive Bob Evans fundraiser

HUNTINGTON -- River Valley Child Development Services will be the recipient of a Bob Evans community fundraiser.

The restaurant will donate 15 percent of its sales from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the 121 Kinetic Drive location in Huntington.

In order for the donation to go to RVCDS, diners must present a special flier that is available on the RVCDS Facebook page, website (www.rvcds.org) or by calling the office at 304-523-3417.
