HUNTINGTON -- Police have arrested a Huntington man in connection with several gunshots fired at a sport-utility vehicle on a high-traffic street Wednesday evening.

Lavonta Dejuan Burrell, 21, was jailed at 3:25 a.m. Thursday on charges of attempted murder and threats of terrorist acts, according to jail records and court documents.

Criminal complaints state he fired shots at the vehicle as it traveled north in the 1100 block of 20th Street. The documents were filed Wednesday night in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

The victim told police Burrell called her cellphone earlier Wednesday before texting her a photo of a bullet, which he said "had her name on it," Huntington Police Det. Chris Sperry said in the complaint.

The woman was traveling north on 20th Street at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday when she said Burrell fired several rounds from a handgun toward her vehicle, which was struck by the bullets, Sperry said in the complaint.

There was no information in the complaint indicating the woman was injured during the incident.

Burrell sent the woman a text within moments of the shooting, which said if he saw her again "he would not stop" until she died, Sperry said in the complaint.

Cabell County 911 dispatchers received several calls regarding the shooting, and a portion of 20th Street between 9th and 11th avenues was closed while investigators were on the scene.
