Women’s heart campaign features W.Va. leaders
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Some of West Virginia’s most prominent women are striking a pose in the hopes that they’ll draw attention to two of the top killers of women in the country.
First lady Gayle Manchin, Secretary of State Betty Ireland and her successor, Natalie Tennant, are among those posing Friday for an American Heart Association campaign called Go Red For Women.
The photo shoot is scheduled to be held at the Cultural Center in Charleston. The photos will be seen on billboards and other advertisements throughout February.
The campaign is aimed at getting women to pay closer attention to the threat of heart disease and stroke — the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of American women.
