Huntington man arrested on burglary, fleeing charges

The following information was provided by criminal complaints filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court:

BURGLARY: Carry Alexander Chapman, 24, of Huntington, was arrested Monday and charged with felony burglary, misdemeanor obstruction and misdemeanor fleeing on foot.

A man entered a residence in the 200 block of Belford Avenue Monday morning and destroyed a large amount of copper pipe from the basement of the residence, a Huntington Police officer said in the complaint. The man ran out of the residence and fled from officers, despite officers' commands to stop, the officer said. The man fled until he fell down and was taken into custody, the officer said.

Chapman's bond was $35,000.

SHOPLIFTING: Melissa Dawn Arnold, 33, of Huntington, was arrested Monday and charged with felony shoplifting, third offense.

A Cabell County sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the Walmart store in the 3300 block of U.S. 60 Monday in response to a shoplifting report, the deputy said. Employees at the store said a woman attempted to leave the store without paying for $26.28 in merchandise, the deputy said. A background check revealed the woman had two prior shoplifting convictions on her criminal record.

Arnold's bond was set at $10,000.

SHOPLIFTING: Christopher James Hafner, 23, of Huntington, was arrested Monday and charged with felony shoplifting, third offense, and misdemeanor public intoxication.

A West Virginia State Police trooper was dispatched to the Walmart store in the 3300 block of U.S. 60 Monday for a report of a man who had fled the store and the custody of the store's loss prevention employees.

The trooper apprehended the man in the parking lot of a nearby business.

An employee at the store told the trooper the man attempted to leave the store without paying for six Lunchables.

A background check revealed the man had two prior shoplifting convictions on his criminal record, the trooper said in the complaint.

Hafner's bond was set at $10,100.

The following information was provided by reports filed with the Huntington Police Department:

RECEIVING AND TRANSFERRING STOLEN PROPERTY: Kenneth Buskirk, 35, was charged with felony receiving and transferring stolen property and misdemeanor fleeing on foot.

Multiple officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of 9th Avenue Monday afternoon for a report of a man fleeing from an officer. One of the officers found the man hiding in between two houses in the area, and a background check revealed a felony warrant for the man's arrest.

GRAND LARCENY: A 36-year-old man reported someone took $2,150 in golf equipment from his garage in the 1200 block of 3rd Street West on June 18.

BURGLARY: A 29-year-old woman reported someone forced entry into her home in the 600 block of South Terrace Monday and took a computer worth $800 and $700 in jewelry.

GRAND LARCENY: A 71-year-old man reported his vehicle was parked in the 2700 block of 1st Avenue from June 18 to June 19. During that time, he said someone entered the vehicle and took $1,819.89 in lawn care equipment and tools and more than $400 in miscellaneous items.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: An employee with Scratches Bar in the 200 block of 25th Street reported someone attempted to pry open the front door of the business sometime Sunday, causing $3,000 in damage.

The following information was provided by booking records at the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Paul Lewis Walker, 22, was incarcerated at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with felony grand larceny, three misdemeanor counts of petit larceny and one misdemeanor count of entering without breaking. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Courtney Beth Pressley, 30, was incarcerated at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with felony third-offense prostitution. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Shawna Faye Brown, 38, was incarcerated at 3:46 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Wayne County charged her with three counts felony fraudulent use of an ATM card and a single count of conspiracy. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Tiffany Janae Grant, 26, was incarcerated Monday evening. Authorities in Mason County charged her with felony operating/attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Steven Brady Gibson, 28, was incarcerated Monday evening. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony burglary, along with misdemeanor assault and leaving the scene of an accident. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Lindsay Michelle Hoel, 23, was incarcerated Monday evening. Authorities in Putnam County charged her with felony operating/attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Randall Shane Wilkinson, 39, was incarcerated Monday evening. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony operating/attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab and another meth-related charge. Bond was unavailable.
