September 03, 2010 @ 04:05 PM

HUNTINGTON -- More than 2,000 Appalachian Power customers are without power, following a heavy rainstorm that moved through the Tri-State between 2 and 3 p.m. Friday.

According to the AEP outage map, there were 2,025 outages in Cabell County and 275in Wayne County.

Phil Moye, spokesperson for Appalachian Power, said most are contained to the East Pea Ridge area, but 50 are in Barboursville.

The Wayne County outages, he said, are in the Lavalette area.

He said crews are on their way, and they hope to have power restored within a few hours. He said he can't say if the storm caused the outages; only that the outages occurred after the storm moved through.
