Two fires destroy area homes
HUNTINGTON -- Two house fires created a busy night for volunteer firefighters in Cabell County.
The fires caused major damage to residences in the 3400 block of Cyrus Creek Road near Barboursville and the 1100 block of Raccoon Creek Road in Salt Rock.
Dispatchers were first alerted to the Raccoon Creek fire. It came in at 12:30 a.m. Friday, prompting a response from volunteer fire departments in Salt Rock and West Hamlin.
The Cyrus Creek fire came in next at 2:13 a.m. Friday. The Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department led that response with help from the Ohio River Road and Salt Rock volunteer fire departments.
Both homes had received significant damage before firefighters arrived on scene.
No injuries were reported.
