Blotter: $29K worth of jewelry stolen from business

The following information was provided by the Huntington Police Department:

The owner of a business in the 600 block of West 14th Street reported $29,000 worth of jewelry stolen. The incident occurred between noon and 1 p.m. Friday as an employee left the room and someone went behind the sales counter and removed the items. Diamond rings and colored stone rings were among the items reported missing.

LARCENY: A 28-year-old woman reported multiple items stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the 2400 block of Collis Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:45 a.m. Friday. Items included two handbags, clothes, bank and identification cards, makeup and cash totaling $440.

STOLEN AUTO: A 36-year-old man reported his 1997 blue Jeep Wrangler stolen from the 900 block of 11th Avenue between 11 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. Friday. The vehicle was valued at $4,250.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A 24-year-old woman reported the passenger window of her vehicle broken while the car was parked in the 200 block of 19th Street. The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. Friday. Damages were estimated at $200; nothing was reported missing.

BURGLARY: A 72-year-old man reported his home in the 4500 block of Magazine Avenue was burglarized between 11:30 a.m. Thursday and 10:20 a.m. Friday. Items reported stolen included $400 cash and a men's wedding band valued at $2,500.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A 22-year-old woman reported that the front tires on her vehicle were slashed while the car was parked in the 2700 block of 5th Avenue. The incident occurred between 10 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday. Damages were estimated at $300.

LARCENY: A 32-year-old man reported that his vehicle was broken into at about 2:30 p.m. Friday while parked in the 1400 block of Rear 4th Avenue. A handgun valued at $550 was stolen and damage to the driver's side window was estimated at $200.

PETIT LARCENY: A 69-year-old man reported that $700 cash was stolen while he was in the 500 block of 7th Avenue between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday. Police have a suspect.

BURGLARY: A 23-year-old woman reported an iPad stolen from her residence in the 1000 block of 6th Street West between 3 and 4:40 p.m. Friday. The item was valued at $900.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A 70-year-old man reported the windshield of his vehicle was shattered between 12:30 and 2 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle was parked in the 2400 block of 1st Avenue. Damage was assessed at $300.

BURGLARY: A 21-year-old woman reported a gaming system and accessories stolen from her residence in the 500 block of Richmond Street between midnight and 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Items were valued at $400.

BREAKING AND ENTERING AUTO: An 18-year-old woman reported that her vehicle was burglarized while parked in the 900 block of 13th Avenue Rear between 12:01 a.m. and noon Saturday. Her wallet and a friend's wallet were stolen. Items were valued at $100. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $200.

BURGLARY: A 25-year-old man reported his car burglarized while parked in the 600 block of Washington Avenue on Thursday or Friday. Taken were a wallet and DVDs, valued at $90, and cash totaling nearly $300. Damages to the vehicle were assessed at $430.

BREAKING AND ENTERING AUTO/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A 28-year-old woman reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 12:30 a.m. and noon Sunday. Coins totaling $5 were stolen and damage to the vehicle's gear shift was estimated at $150. The vehicle was parked in the 300 block of Olive Street.

LARCENY: A 42-year-old woman reported a BMX bike stolen from her residence in the 800 block of Bronson Court between 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The bike was valued at $350.

The following information was provided by the Cabell County Sheriff's Office:

A 35-year-old woman reported her home in the 8900 block of Barkers Ridge, Ona, was vandalized by a known suspect who smeared fecal matter on the carpet in her bedroom and tore the crown molding off the ceiling in her living room. Items were also stolen from the home, according to the report, including vehicle parts, fencing, a toolbox, two bathtubs and a deep freezer. Items were valued at $1,550. Police have a suspect.

BURGLARY: A 56-year-old man reported that his home in the 4700 block of Ohio River Road was burglarized between 6 p.m. Thursday and 4:30 p.m. Friday. Items reported stolen included 100 feet of copper piping, a forced air heater and wooden shelves. Items were valued at $1,270. Police have a suspect.

BURGLARY/BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 21-year-old man reported that his residence on Smith Drive in Huntington was burglarized between 6 p.m. Thursday and noon Friday. Items reported stolen included a 55-in. television, gaming system and gaming accessories. Police have a suspect.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: A 63-year-old woman reported a handgun stolen from her vehicle between noon Tuesday and 2 p.m. Thursday while the car was parked in the 5300 block of W.Va. 10 in Salt Rock.

LARCENY: A 39-year-old man reported various pieces of farm equipment stolen from his residence in the 6600 block of Frances Branch Road in Lesage between Feb. 15 and March 7. Items were valued at $800.

BURGLARY/BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 58-year-old woman reported that her storage unit in the 100 block of West Lane in Barboursville was burglarized between Dec.1 and March 13. Items reported stolen included two guns and a variety of tools. Items were valued at about $2,700.

BURGLARY/BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 26-year-old man reported his residence in the 5600 block of Mayhood Drive was burglarized between 9:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Items reported stolen included a laptop, valued at $3,000, and cash totaling $145. Police have a suspect.

BURGLARY/BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 56-year-old woman reported that her storage unit in the 3900 block of 16th Street Road was burglarized between 2 p.m. Monday and noon Wednesday. Items reported stolen included a variety of tools, computer and kitchen table. Items were valued at $810.

The following information was provided by Cabell County Magistrate Court:

Nicholas Wayne McComas, 34, of Huntington, was charged with wanton endangerment, brandishing, discharge of a firearm and obstructing. Bond was set at $50,000.

The following information was provided by Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Steven Douglas Lewis, 24, was incarcerated Sunday evening. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with felony nighttime burglary and destruction of property, along with misdemeanor assault and obstruction. Bond was denied pending arraignment.

Tiffany Lee Jones, 24, was incarcerated at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Authorities in Mason County charged her with being a fugitive from justice. Bond was denied.

Jody Austin Newsome, 27, was incarcerated at 2:20 p.m. Monday. Authorities in Putnam County charged him with nighttime burglary. Bond was set at $10,000.
