American Legion honors veterans

HUNTINGTON -- American Legion Post 16 honored the nation's veterans Monday evening with its annual celebration and a visit from National Commander James E. Koutz. The evening begin with a social hour, followed by the annual birthday dinner, the President's and Commanders' Celebration and Old Timer's Night.

Koutz, who has served the American Legion at the local, district and national levels, is a Vietnam veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 200 in Boonville, Ind., since his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1971. Koutz spoke at Monday's dinner.

Huntington Post 16 is always open for membership to veterans who have served during periods of conflict or combat operations. Veterans need not have served overseas, only during designated periods. For more information, call 304-523-9471 or email huntingtonpost16@yahoo.com.
