Literacy Council seeking volunteers

Jan. 12, 2013 @ 01:09 PM

HUNTINGTON — The Tri-State Literacy Council is seeking volunteers to serve as tutors.

A free tutor training will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on two upcoming Saturdays, Jan. 19 and 26. Those interested must attend both, which are held on the third floor of the Cabell County Public Library, 455 9th St., Huntington.

Tutors are then matched with adult students, who are seeking to learn to read or improve their math and reading skills.

They’ll meet one to two hours weekly at a local library.

Tutors currently are needed to work with waiting students in Huntington and Kenova.

Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, Jan. 15, by contacting Emily Warder at 304-528-5700 or email literacy@cabell.lib.wv.us.
