Sunny and warmer toward end of week
Temperatures are expected to gradually get warmer this week in the Tri-State, with chances of rain and snow early in the week giving way to sunnier skies toward next weekend.
The National Weather Service seven-day forecast for the region:
Sunday: A slight chance of snow showers before 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph.
Monday night: A chance of rain and snow before 5 a.m., then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Tuesday: Rain and snow likely before noon, then rain. High near 44. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday night: Rain, snow and sleet likely before midnight, then a chance of rain and snow between midnight and 3 a.m., then a chance of snow after 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow showers before 4 p.m., then a chance of rain showers between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers after 5 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
