HUNTINGTON — Investigators have identified a Morehead, Ky., man as the motorcyclist who died Sunday morning when he was ejected from his motorcycle on the 31st Street Bridge.

The Huntington Police Department press release identified the deceased as Vickers W. Shore, 50. Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor, the release states.

The accident happened at 11:25 a.m. as the motorcycle entered West Virginia from Proctorville, Ohio. Authorities believe Shore lost control of his motorcycle and struck the concrete retaining wall, an impact that propelled his body from the motorcycle and over the retaining wall leading to a significant fall to some brush below.

The bridge was closed into Sunday afternoon as crews cleared and investigated the crash.
