Huntington Police conduct prostitution sting
HUNTINGTON -- The Huntington Police Department undercover operations led to 29 warrants related to prostitution along 6th Avenue between 2nd and 6th streets, according to a release from the agency.
The operations focused on the customers of prostitutes and led to 19 citations for those customers and 17 arrests. The citations were handled in Huntington Municipal Court. Of the arrests, six were for third offense prostitution, four for second offense prostitution, and six for first offense prostitution (including one juvenile offender); and one was charged with pimping for prostitution of a juvenile.
“As we continue to address the prostitution problem in our community, our goal is to identify and assist those in need of drug addiction related services, incarcerate those who repeatedly engage in prostitution, and hold accountable the male ‘customers’ who are exploiting vulnerable and often times drug addicted women,” Chief Skip Holbrook said in a release.
The investigation is ongoing, the release said.
