W.Va. man gets 10 years for child pornography
BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (AP) — A Fayette County man who was arrested in Florida after he skipped out on a sentencing date has been ordered to serve 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography.
The government says 34-year-old Brett David Bowyer was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Bluefield to the maximum punishment. He faces up to an additional five years in prison for failing to appear for his May 2012 sentencing. He was arrested in June of this year in Florida.
According to federal prosecutors, in September 2010 investigators found more than 600 images and videos on his computer of sexual activities involving children. He also received and shared child pornography.
Bowyer pleaded guilty to the child pornography charge.
