Cold temperatures stick around; schools are closed

HUNTINGTON — Yesterday’s snow combined with frigid temperatures have led to school closings throughout the region.

All area schools are closed today. Marshall University, Mountwest Community and Technical College, Huntington Junior College and ITT Tech in Huntington are all on a 2 hour delay.

Today will be partly sunny and remain cold with high temperatures around 17 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The wind chill values today will be as low as -5. Tonight will see a slight chance of snow, mostly cloudy skies and a low around 8. The wind chill will be as low as -7.

Thursday will bring scattered snow showers, mostly cloudy skies and a high near 16 with wind chill values around -8. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 6. The wind chill will be near -5.

Friday will be mostly sunny and breezy with a high near 23. Wind gusts will be as high as 24. Friday night will bring scattered snow showers, mostly cloudy skies and a low around 18.
