Ohio school bus driver charged in fatal crash
ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — The driver of an Ohio school bus that crashed, killing a 6-year-old boy, has been charged with three misdemeanors.
The charges filed Friday against 47-year-old Carol Oler include vehicular homicide.
Muskingum County Prosecutor Michael Haddox says that count alleges Oler was negligent, resulting in the June 2 death of kindergartner Kasey King.
Oler also is charged with vehicular manslaughter and failure to control.
Her bus went off a highway, hit a utility pole and flipped over on the way to Nashport Elementary School, about 45 miles east of Columbus. She claimed a car ran her off the road.
Authorities said it was Ohio’s first school bus crash that killed a child passenger in 22 years.
A message was left Friday at a phone listing for Oler.
