Five injured in suspected drunken driving crash
PROCTORVILLE, Ohio — An alleged drunken driving crash injured five people late Sunday in Lawrence County, Ohio, according to a press release issued by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The incident happened about 10:50 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Ohio 7 and Ohio 217, approximately seven miles north of Proctorville, Ohio.
Investigators believe a eastbound vehicle on Ohio 217 struck a northbound vehicle traveling on Ohio 7.
The eastbound driver, Houston E. McClung III, was arrested and jailed after the crash. Investigators charged the 34-year-old from Proctorville with aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle while impaired, driving under suspension and failure to stop at a stop sign, the release states.
The northbound vehicle was driven by Rachel A. Bailey, 29, of Acworth, Ga. Emergency crews transported her and four passengers to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Three of those transported were children under the age of 10.
The accident remains under investigation.
