Blotter: Woman arrested after police find drugs in home with baby

The following information was provided by reports filed with the Huntington Police Department:

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Jessica Dawn Copley, 30, of Huntington was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, felony child neglect and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Turner Road on Tuesday afternoon to assist Cabell County Probation officers at a residence in the area.

A probation officer on the scene told HPD officers he located a green leafy substance and drug paraphernalia in plain view while conducing a home visit. The probation officer also said there was an 8-month-old child in the home.

Once inside, officers found a total of 15.3 grams of marijuana in the home in addition to .4 grams of heroin, 13 oxycodone pills, 18.5 alprazolam pills, one opana pill and one oxycodone pill. The owner of the residence admitted to smoking marijuana earlier during the day.

The child was taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.

GRAND LARCENY, RECEIVING AND TRANSFERRING STOLEN PROPERTY: A 43-year-old woman reported someone took $6,155 in jewelry, $4,700 in firearms and $400 in electronics from her home along Kings Highway sometime between Dec. 1 and Tuesday.

The woman said she was out of town on Dec. 1 while two men were at her home doing renovations. She said one of the men located a pawn ticket for the missing firearms in the possession of the other worker. Police have a suspect.

STOLEN AUTO: A 42-year-old man reported his vehicle was stolen while it was parked in the 1500 block of Rear Washington Avenue between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. The vehicle, worth $1,000, was locked at the time of the incident.

FRAUDULENT USE OF AN ACCESS DEVICE: A 29-year-old woman reported an employee at her bank informed her on Tuesday that her credit card was canceled. The woman told police someone used the card to make $510 in unauthorized transactions Tuesday at businesses in Kanawha County. Police have a suspect.

The following information was provided by booking records at the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville:

Ashley Nicole Parker, 32, was incarcerated at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Wayne County charged her with a felony bond piece. Bond was denied.

Tara Danielle Deweese, 24, was incarcerated at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Putnam County charged her with 27 counts of felony forgery and uttering. Bond was $12,000.

Tia Lynn Carr, 20, was incarcerated at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Putnam County arrested her on a grand larceny warrant. Bond was denied pending arraignment.
