Wayne girl turns 12 on 12-12-12

CEREDO -- A Wayne County girl can count herself as part of Wednesday's calendar oddity.

Hayley Diamond, a student at Ceredo-Kenova Middle School turned 12 years old on 12-12-12. She was born at 7:25 a.m. back in 2000, said her dad, Steven Diamond.

"We had it announced at her school because it was such an oddity," said Diamond, a teacher at Buffalo Middle School. He said they sent her flowers and balloons and put a sign in front of her grandmother's house, then went out to dinner to celebrate.

"We actually didn't start thinking about it until last November, when it was 11-11-11," he said. "And it dawned on us that 12-12-12 was her birthday, and she'd be 12 years old."

The honor roll student also is the daughter of Rebecca Diamond, who teaches at Kellogg Elementary, and has a little brother, Cole, who is 9 years old.

There also are several reports worldwide of babies who were born at 12:12 a.m. and 12:12 p.m. Wednesday, meaning they will have a 12-12-12-12-12 birthday.
