Mayoral, council ceremonies to be Jan. 3
HUNTINGTON -- The inauguration and swearing-in ceremonies for Mayor-elect Steve Williams and Huntington City Council are set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center.
The event is free and open to the public, according to a prepared release. Huntington City Council members will be sworn in by City Clerk Barbara Nelson, while Williams will receive the oath of office from U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers.
The program also will feature selections performed by the Musical Arts Guild and by Ryan Hardiman. A reception will follow the ceremony.
Inauguration committee chairwoman Renee Maass said Williams wanted a family-oriented program and reception to celebrate the beginning of his and the council's four-year term.
