Man pleads guilty to attempt to commit a felony
HUNTINGTON -- Cabell Circuit Judge Alfred Ferguson ordered Frank Randolph Smith to a 1- to 3-year prison sentence.
Smith, 26, had pleaded guilty to attempt to commit a felony. He agreed to enter that plea without a grand jury indictment.
Ferguson and fellow Cabell Circuit Judge Paul T. Farrell also issued punishments in the following criminal cases.
Prescription fraud
Ferguson ordered Melinda Zaneski to a 1- to 4 year prison sentence.
Zaneski, 55, had pleaded guilty to obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation. She agreed to enter that plea without a grand jury indictment.
Meth, burglary cases
Ferguson ordered George Keith Belton to a 2- to 10-year prison sentence.
Belton, 46, had pleaded guilty to attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab and daytime burglary, also known as entering without breaking. He agreed to enter the plea without a grand jury indictment.
Prison in felony attempt
Ferguson ordered Jimmie Lee Holbrook Jr. to a 1- to 3-year prison sentence.
Holbrook, 32, had pleaded guilty to attempt to commit a felony. He agreed to enter the plea without a grand jury indictment.
Probation, fine
Farrell ordered Jennifer Lynn Dempsey to one year of probation and a $250 fine after the judge suspended a 1- to 3-year prison sentence.
Dempsey had pleaded guilty to attempt to commit a felony, that being possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. She agreed to enter the plea without a grand jury indictment.
Burglary leads to prison time
Farrell ordered Christopher Michael Price to a 1- to 15-year prison sentence.
Price, 23, of the 300 block of Stewart Road in Hurricane, W.Va., had pleaded guilty to burglary.
A February 2012 indictment initially charged Price with burglary, petit larceny and destruction of property.
