Church hosts MUsic Alive Series

Jan. 25, 2013 @ 11:01 PM

HUNTINGTON -- First Presbyterian Church provided some reprieve from the lunchtime snow Friday by hosting Marshall University's MUsic Alive Series performance.

The classical music performance featured three Marshall music faculty members Solen Dikener on cello, Elizabeth Reed Smith on violin and Henning Vauth on piano, forming the Millefiori Piano Trio. The guest artists were Sandra Groce on viola and Bleda Elibal on bass from the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

The free series continues Friday, Feb. 15. That performance will feature the Violautalino Trio of Kristen Alves, violin; Wendell Dobbs, flute; and Julio Ribeiro Alves, guitar.

On Friday, March 1, the MUsic Alive Series will feature Chamber Music in Current Times with Mark Zanter.

Then, on Friday, April 5, the series concludes for the spring semester with the Contrasts Doubleplay Duo.

All performances are noon at First Presbyterian Church, 1015 5th Ave., Huntington.
