No one injured in Stamford Park fire
HUNTINGTON -- No one was injured in a house fire in the Stamford Park neighborhood Monday evening.
The fire started just before 5 p.m. in the 700 block of Shivel Drive, and smoke was barreling from the home when emergency responders with the Huntington Fire Department arrived, said Chief Randy Ellis.
The residents were not at the house when the fire began, but Ellis did say the family's dog ran out of the home as soon as firefighters accessed the home. Neighbors were watching the dog while emergency crews were on the scene.
Fire crews evacuated the home for a short time after it appeared the structure was no longer stable, but they were able to get back into the home and extinguish the fire, according to dispatcher reports.
The fire appeared to originate in the basement of the home, Ellis said, but the cause of the fire was under investigation Monday.
