HUNTINGTON -- A Huntington woman was arrested Thursday after a neighbor found her son wandering outside of their home, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

Mary Leam Ward, 23, was charged with one count of felony child abuse creating risk of injury.

A Cabell County Sheriff's Deputy responded to Ward's home Thursday after a neighbor reported discovering a 3-year-old boy standing outside in a diaper and a t-shirt yelling for his mother. The deputy notes in the complaint that the temperature was 33 degrees at the time of the incident.

In the complaint, the deputy stated Ward left the boy unattended and alone at the home while she left for an extended period of time, during which he was discovered by the neighbors who alerted police.

Ward was incarcerated on a $100,000 cash only bond.
