Bad weather does not deter crowd

HUNTINGTON -- The crowd appeared smaller Saturday for the second day of the 2013 Huntington RV & Boat Show at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

But the snowy weather didn't keep everyone away. Doris Bowles and her daughter drove down from Charleston to attend, saying she put her vehicle in four-wheel drive to make it.

"We have a motor home, but we never stop looking," Bowles said. "It's nasty outside, and it's the dead of winter, so we're counting down to the first camping trip of the season. It just gets you in the mood."

Lynn Butler from Setzer's World of Camping in Huntington said the snow helps get people in the mood for camping season.

"People are anxious and thinking about getting outside," Butler said. "Once it gets to be spring, they want to be camping."

She said industry trends are that folks are interested in travel trailers they can attach to their current vehicles. But she also said motor homes are making a comeback, with several on display at the show.

The last day to see dozens of campers, motor homes, pontoon boats, speed boats and jet skis is from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3. Tickets are $7 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
