Five face drug charges after robbery report

HUNTINGTON -- What started as a report of a robbery ended with five people arrested, including the two who initially called police.
West Virginia State Trooper S. Smith said two men called 911 Sunday evening to report that three men from Kanawha County had robbed them at their house in the 500 block of 22nd Street and were headed back toward Nitro.
Smith said he was contacted by Huntington Police to watch for the suspects' vehicle on U.S. 60. Within an hour, he received word that Hurricane Police officers had them stopped on Interstate 64 in Putnam County. Police confiscated half a pound of marijuana, Smith said.
"We interviewed these suspects and found out they didn't rob them of money," Smith said. "It was dope."
Members of the Huntington Violent Crimes Drug Task Force interviewed the victims and confiscated pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, he said.
Those in the house who were arrested included William Kevin Maynard, 22, and Neal Bryant Richardson, 20. Both were charged with felony counts of possession. Maynard was still being held at the Western Regional Jail as of Monday night, while Richardson had bonded out.
Those arrested in the traffic stop were Karson Russell Williams, 19; Jacob Garrett Brown, 21; and James Thomas Flint, 20. They were each charged with felony counts of robbery and possession with intent to deliver, according to jail records.
They are being held on $50,000 bond out of Cabell County and $2,500 bond out of Putnam County.
In an unrelated drug arrest, Cora Lynn Tomblin, 48, was incarcerated at 4:10 a.m. Monday. Authorities in Wayne County charged her with five felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. She also was charged with one felony count of conspiracy.
Bond was set at $80,000.
