Rahall gets Harry S. Truman Award
U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., received the 2012 Harry S. Truman Award from the National Guard Association of the United States on Monday.
Rahall, who represents the 3rd Congressional District in southern West Virginia which includes Cabell County, was recognized by for his legislative efforts.
Rahall received the award during Veterans' Visibility Day recognition ceremonies in the House chamber at the West Virginia State Capitol.
"Where would we be, where would this nation be, without the service and sacrifice of the citizen soldier," Rahall, a senior member of the House Military Veterans Caucus and the National Guard and Reserve Components Caucus, said in a release.
The Truman award is the highest honor that the National Guard Association bestows on individuals, according to a release from the organization. Past recipients include presidents, congressional leaders and senior Pentagon officials.
