Man charged with holding teens at gunpoint
HUNTINGTON -- A 34-year-old man remained behind bars Tuesday, days after police arrested him on child neglect and weapons charges.
Criminal complaints charge Lamar Charles Hopkins of Huntington with pointing a .22-caliber revolver at his teenage children and refusing to let them leave an apartment in the 800 block of 12th Avenue. The incident happened Feb. 15, authorities say, but charges were not signed until Friday.
The complaints further state Hopkins held the teenagers hostage at gunpoint for approximately six hours.
The weapon charges allege police found 18 rounds of ammunition in the apartment during Friday's arrest. Hopkins is barred from possessing any such item due to a prior felony conviction, according to the criminal complaints.
Hopkins also faces a count of brandishing.
Bond was set at $105,000.
