Troopers verify Wayne sex offender registrations
WAYNE -- The West Virginia State Police in Wayne County recently conducted a sex offender roundup, during which troopers utilized a federal grant to verify the status of more than 50 of those registered, according to a press release issued by the detachment.
The roundup took place between Feb. 17 and Feb. 21. During that week, troopers verified 53 sex offender registrations. They also obtained eight arrest warrants, including four of which were served.
Those arrested were Larry Watts, 44, of Lavalette; Earl Parsons, 26, of Huntington; Phillip Adkins, 33, Lavalette; and Donald Lawson II, 35, of Huntington. Each was charged with various counts of failing to register as a sex offender.
Seven offenders contacted were verified to be in jail or confirmed to be living at the residence by neighbors.
This roundup encompassed the population of sex offenders residing in Wayne County. It did not include those who live outside of the county or state with registration ties to Wayne County.
