Local women celebrate with worship

March 01, 2013 @ 11:30 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Many local women gathered Friday at Central Christian Church along 5th Avenue to celebrate World Day of Prayer.

Women from the group Church Women United participated in fellowship and worship during the event, which included a program called, "I Was a Stranger and You Took Me In." An offering that was collected during the event will be donated to World Day of Prayer Charities.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women who observe a day or prayer each year during the first Friday of March, according to the event's website. The theme of this year's event was "Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action."
