Library hosts Dr. Seuss birthday party

Mar. 04, 2013 @ 11:00 PM

HUNTINGTON -- The Cabell County Public Library celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday on Monday at three locations, while the Cat in the Hat visited Playmates Child Care Center in Guyandotte.

About 100 children attended the library events at the main library in downtown Huntington, the Gallaher branch on Norway Avenue and in Barboursville.

The library also has a few events scheduled during spring break later this month to keep kids busy. At 3 p.m. Monday, March 18, children can design their own Mardi Gras masks with paint, jewels, beads and feathers. Then, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, kids can come to read, play games or participate in other activities. And, at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, they can play games on the XBox-360 KINECT.

Finally, at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, children can come to the library for free popcorn and a viewing of "Ice Age: Continental Drift" (rated PG).

All take place on the fourth floor of the library at 9th Street and 5th Avenue in Huntington.
