Pennington to speak March 15

Mar. 04, 2013 @ 03:24 PM

HUNTINGTON — One former Marshall University football star will fill in for another at the 41st Fund Raising Dinner for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington on Friday, March 15.

Former MU and National Football League quarterback Chad Pennington is now scheduled to be the featured speaker at the event, which begins with a reception at 6 p.m. and includes a 7 p.m. dinner at the Pullman Plaza Hotel.

Ahmad Bradshaw, a star running back for the Herd and most recently a player for the NFL’s New York Giants, originally was scheduled to speak but was unable to because of foot surgery.

Anyone interested in attending the dinner should contact Dortha Williamson at 304-523-5120.

The Boys and Girls Club in Guyandotte relies completely on grants and donations to operate. The Club offers after-school programs, tutoring and recreational opportunities for members who are asked to pay $10 a year for dues. Approximately 500 children are members.
