Liturgical dance set for Sunday
HUNTINGTON -- Cecilia Underwood Ford will present a liturgical dance during the 10:55 a.m. worship service Sunday, Nov. 4, at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, 533 10th St., Huntington.
Ford is the daughter of former Gov. Cecil Underwood and his wife, Hovah, and a former Huntington resident.
Ford will offer an interpretation of Bernadette Farrell's "Christ, Be Our Light" as sung by the JM Sanctuary Choir, accompanied by organist Becky Sturm.
"The Underwoods were active members of JM, and we are thrilled that Cecilia is 'coming home' for this service of celebration and thanksgiving," senior pastor Jack Lipphardt, said in a release. "Governor Underwood was chair of the JM Board of Trustees and served as lay leader of the congregation. He also taught an adult Sunday School Class. Cecilia grew up at JM and is well remembered and loved."
The All Saints observance is a service of tribute and thanksgiving for the lives of congregational members who have died in the last year.
