Huntington war vet completes journey across U.S.

Purchase this photoHUNTINGTON -- A little bit of recognition for a lot of miles traveled was in order for Huntington native Michael Weber on Friday night.
He returned to the Tri-State on Friday afternoon from Santa Monica, Calif., where he ended a more than 2,000-mile walk across the United States on Tuesday to raise money for the March of Dimes.
The Iraq War veteran said in May he was embarking on the journey to figure out the next part of his life, and he posted a photo of himself setting foot into the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday evening at the end of his journey.
"I am thankful for all of you who have helped me across the country, those who donated, and those who showed continuous support since day one," he posted. "I have a few more stories to share, to include details of my homecoming, so don't run off just yet. #MikesMarch doesn't end until I say it does, and tonight isn't it."
He was honored during a welcome home party at the Phil Cline YMCA in Huntington and during halftime at Friday night's Huntington High School football game.
