HUNTINGTON -- The Veterans Committee for Civic Improvement and the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District are seeking organizations that wish to participate in the Veterans Day parade on Saturday, Nov. 10.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. on 14th Street West and proceeds toward Veterans Memorial Arch for a ceremony. Lineup begins at 9 a.m.

Marching bands, vehicles, floats and drill teams are all welcome to participate. The deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 6, although those who wish to participate will not be turned away, said lead organizer Ron W. Wroblewski.

The event at Veterans Memorial Arch will include the Missing Man Table Ceremony and guest speaker Joseph Gary Fenderbosch of Gallipolis. He is a Vietnam War veteran, having flown more than 1,300 combat hours as an Army helicopter crew chief and doorgunner for more than two years.

Fenderbosch later attended Ohio State University, Rio Grande College and Ohio University. He worked for the state of Ohio for 24 years at the Gallipolis Developmental Center and has remained involved in numerous local organizations, including the Gallia County Outreach Center, Gallipolis VFW Post 4464 and the Gallia County Service Commission.

His military decorations include two Valorous Unit Citations, four Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry Unit Citations, the Air Medal, Air Crew Member Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation and two Bronze Stars.
