Nov. 09, 2012 @ 11:50 PM

HUNTINGTON -- Those interested in learning more about the American Baptist denomination and what area churches are doing to support its missions initiatives are invited to attend Fifth Avenue Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, to hear a presentation by Dr. Roy Medley, general secretary of American Baptist Churches USA.

Before the Sunday service, Medley will speak in the fellowship hall and lead a discussion on American Baptist missions programs. He also will deliver a message during the church's 10:45 a.m. worship service in the main sanctuary. The church is located at 1135 5th Ave.

The church is thrilled about his visit, said the Rev. Allen Reasons, pastor at Fifth Avenue Baptist.

"Roy has such a heart for others that when people hear him speak, they are moved with compassion toward the causes of Christ," Reasons said.

According to a release from the church, the American Baptist Churches USA is a 1.5-million-member denomination.
