Share photos, memories of old Cabell schools

January 08, 2009 @ 02:22 PM

Do you have old pictures or stories of Barboursville middle or high schools?
The Herald-Dispatch is looking for current and former students, teachers, faculty and community members to share their fond memories of what now can be called the old Barboursville Middle School.

The last day of school in the old structure is Friday, Jan. 9. Teachers and administration will move their classrooms to the new neighboring school from Monday, Jan. 12, through Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Students will return by grade level starting Wednesday, Jan. 21, to allow for each grade to have the school to itself for orientation and tours. It also will allow the cafeteria and office staff to go through the rigors of a full day with just one-third the student population.

The entire student body returns Monday, Jan. 26.

If you have any pictures or stories you would like to share of the old school, please send them to education reporter Bill Rosenberger at brosenberger@herald-dispatch.com by Friday, Jan. 9. You can also reach him at 304-526-2854.

We also plan to ask the community to submit pictures and stories from the old Milton Middle and High schools, which is in its last year, and the old West Middle and Cammack Middle (now Huntington Middle) and Miller and Cammack elementaries (now Southside Elementary). Those schools are in their last full year, with an expected move taking place into the renovated and rebuilt former Cammack campus next winter.
