HUNTINGTON — Marshall wide receiver Angelo Jean-Louis was incarcerated early Tuesday morning and booked into Western Regional Jail.

He was charged with two felony counts fraudulent use of an access device, according to jail and court records.

A criminal complaint obtained from the Cabell County Magistrate’s office stated that on April 3, Jean-Louis walked into the 7-11, located on 5th Avenue and 19th Street, and made two purchases with a stolen credit card.

A purchase in the amount of $14.20 was made at 9:08 p.m. while a second purchase in the amount of $11.62 was made at 9:10 p.m. Each purchase accounted for a felony count of fraudulent use of an access device.

Jean-Louis was arrested by Marshall University police and booked into Western Regional Jail at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

He was arraigned by Cabell County Magistrate Danne Vance later on Tuesday morning, and his bail has been set at $20,000.

The 6-1, 196-pound wide receiver was a four-star recruit out of high school and signed with the Herd out of Fork Union Military Academy in December.

Jean-Louis enrolled at Marshall in January in hopes of getting on the field for spring practice, but was unable to get his grades in order to do so. He was expected to be on the field for the Herd this year and be in the mix at the ‘X’ wide receiver position, which was vacated by the graduation of Aaron Dobson.

Marshall athletics issued a statement on Tuesday morning in regards to Jean-Louis’ arrest.

“We are aware of his situation,” the statement said. “We will handle the matter internally and appropriately.”
