Hospital offers free celiac disease screening
HUNTINGTON -- A free celiac disease screening will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, from in the Marshall University Medical Center atrium on the campus of Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the small intestine when wheat, barley or rye are consumed. Anyone who suffers from irritable bowel syndrome or an autoimmune disease is encouraged to participate in this free blood screening.
The screening is sponsored by the West Virginia Gluten Intolerance Group, Prometheus Labs and the Department of Pediatrics at the Marshall University School of Medicine.
