American Legion Post honors flag-flying citizens

HUNTINGTON -- The American Legion Post 16 held a ceremony to salute local citizens who fly the U.S. flag on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Those recognized for their display of the flag recognized a certificate and a new flag. Honored were Stanley Diehl and Robert Kimball of Chesapeake; Bill Perkins, Carl King, Jack Ellis, Tim Gibbs, Donald Hutchinson, Charles McComas, Herman Adkins, Amy King, Betsy Dillon, Noah Romine and John Ransbottom of Huntington; and Mary McCreery of South Point.

Paul and Ann Waymire were honored as "gold star" parents and received a folded flag in a display case with a certificate and photo of their son Jackie Lee Waymire, killed during his second tour of Vietnam.
