2 killed as car crashes into front of W.Va. bank
MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) — Two Glen Easton men are dead after their car crashed into the Progressive Bank building in Moundsville.
Police Chief Thomas Mitchell identified the victims as 22-year-old driver Stephen Berardi Jr. and 24-year-old passenger George Martin.
Mitchell tells media outlets that rain and speed may have been to blame for the crash that damaged the building and sounded the bank's alarm.
He says the car struck a fire hydrant before hitting the building. The vehicle was so badly damaged that investigators couldn't determine its make.
The crash occurred early Friday morning.
