W.Va. park offers 4 courses in mountain biking
CAIRO, W.Va. (AP) — If you like the idea of mountain biking but don’t know how to start, there are people at North Bend State Park in Cairo who are ready to help.
Activities coordinator Ken Zebo says the Ritchie County park is offering a series of workshops this spring and summer to teach the basics. Riders can attend just one but are encouraged to attend them all.
They’re scheduled for May 4-5, June 8-9, July 6-7 and Aug. 3-4.
For $30, instructors will evaluate bicycles, talk about trails and educate riders about appropriate gears and braking.
Drills will focus on proper positioning, weight distribution and more.
There’s even a course in trail building.
Instructor Kim Coram is vice president of the West Virginia Mountain Bike Association.
