Fans, collectors line up early outside of Blenko

Jun. 19, 2013 @ 11:00 PM

Blenko enthusiasts have already begun forming a line outside the company's headquarters and Visitor Center in Milton in anticipation of the release of its 33rd West Virginia Birthday piece, set to go on sale Saturday, June 22, at 8 a.m.

Made of ice blue-colored glass to represent a mountaineer's freedom, the 11-inch tall, ballooning vase expands with hearts from a narrow base to broad rounded shoulders and a flared rim. The piece is limited to a quantity of 150.

Each piece is hand-signed by the designer, Arlon Bayliss, and Blenko President Walter Blenko Jr.

The collectors already in line, as well as other early-arriving fans, will also have access to a special event Friday evening as Blenko Glass Co. will host "Happy After Hours with Blenko Glass" beginning at 7 p.m. Two special edition pieces will be available for purchase, a 15 percent discount will be offered, and cupcakes and refreshments will be served.
