Mason County man dies in crash
GALLIPOLIS FERRY, W.Va. — A Mason County man died early Monday in a vehicle accident on W.Va. 2. It happened at 1:05 a.m. Monday at a railroad crossing in Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release identifying the deceased driver as Wendell E. Jordan, 33, of Gallipolis Ferry.
Investigators believed Jordan’s 2000 Chevrolet Impala dropped off the right side of W.Va. 2. Jordan lost control as he steered it back onto the pavement. The southbound vehicle slid sideways on the wet pavement, crossed the center line and went underneath an oncoming tractor-trailer truck.
The Barboursville truck driver was uninjured. An infant in Jordan’s vehicle received minor injuries.
